i-MIRAI

“i” stands for innovation, invention, intellectual property, and international.

“i” also means love, since its pronunciation is the same as that of “love” in Japanese.

“MIRAI” is “future” in Japanese.

Wishing for creating the future filled with love and peace through international use of intellectual property, we have named our company “i-MIRAI”.

Our History

In 1994, Mr. Kawakita established KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES, after his successful career in several patent law firms in Tokyo and intensive training in Washington D.C.

Since Mr. Kawakita was well informed of U.S. patent system and European patent system, KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES soon became known as the firm good at bridging Japan and United States/Europe.

Mr. Kawakita strived for helping his clients to obtain broad and strong foregin patents, and also built the team of paralegals, translators, and patent attorneys well trained in foregin applications. 

The number of U.S. patents obtained via KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES since the establishment reached 1,000 in 2016, and the number reached nealy 2,000 in 2024.

KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES celebrated their 30th annuversary in 2024, and Mr. Kawakita and three associates of KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES founded patent attorney corporation i-MIRAI in 2025 for continuing the reputed service of KAWAKITA and ASSOCIATES permanently.
